Can Roy Keane relieve some of the pressure on his job when Ipswich take on Sven’s Leicester this weekend?

Milan have confirmed they are in talks with Sampdoria for striker Antonio Cassano.

Cassano learned on Thursday night that he will be suspended until January 31 and that his wages will be docked by 50% for the duration of his contract as punishment for his behaviour in October.

Cassano, 28, wants to leave Samp and Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani has confirmed his club is working on acquiring the player.

He told Sky Sport Italia: “Cassano would be a substitute for (injured striker Filippo) Inzaghi, although he would have completely different characteristics.

“In any case, it is not a done deal as some have already stated. We will have to wait and see what Samp’s demands are and get an agreement with the player.

“Moreover, we need to understand who will pay the millions demanded by Real Madrid, which certainly will not be paid by Milan.”

Sampdoria are due to pay Madrid – Cassano’s former club – a figure of €5 million if they sell the player prior to his contract expiring on June 2013.

Cassano was dropped from Sampdoria’s squad back in October following an argument with Sampdoria president Riccardo Garrone. The club attempted to rescind his contract for insubordination but were unsuccessful.
