Milan have signed striker Marcio Amoroso from San Paolo as a replacement for Christian Vieri who joined French side Monaco earlier this week.

The Serie A club said Amoroso, 31, had signed an 18-month contract.

Amoroso spent five years in Italy, playing for Udinese between 1996 and 1999 before joining Parma for two seasons.

In the 1998-99 season he finished top scorer in Serie A with 22 goals in 33 games.

After Parma, he played for three seasons with German side Borussia Dortmund, before joining Malago for a season.
