Massimo Moratti has given his backing to coach Roberto Mancini following Internazionale’s emphatic 4-1 win at Roma.

Mancini’s future as Inter coach has been questioned, with former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho touted as a replacement.

But Inter president Moratti feels criticism of the coach is unwarranted and has offered his support to Mancini.

“Mancini lined up the perfect team and then he has been good with his substitutions, too,” Moratti told the Italian media.

“Many people criticise him, but he’s a good coach and he doesn’t deserve certain negative judgements.

“I say that this has been his win because he gave calm to the group.

“The team answered on the pitch in a really good way and I like them.

“Winning in Rome, like last season, is important for the morale. Now we must repeat ourselves in Europe.”
