Chelsea managerJose Mourinho is worried by the injury suffered by left-back Ashley Cole in his side’s win over Blackburn on Wednesday.
“He has a problem in the knee, I don’t know what,” said Mourinho. “He cannot walk so it must be something serious.
“We will have to wait a couple of days before we know what it is. But this kind of injury normally ends in surgery, so I fear the worst.”
Cole, 26, will undergo scans on Thursday to determine the seriousness of the injury.
Mourinho said: “We are doing so many things to have a team to compete in all competitions and we must compete without Ashley.
“Khalid Boulahrouz will train with the group for the first time on Thursday and maybe in one more week he can play.
“I have to make a decision about whether to play John Terry this weekend against Charlton or the game afterwards against Middlesbrough.”
