FIFA has extended the seven-month ban on ex-Chelsea striker Adrian Mutu for drug abuse worldwide.

The Romanian striker was given a seven month ban by the English Football Association (FA) and sacked by Premier League Chelsea last month after testing positive for cocaine.

The decision by FIFA means that although he can train with another club, he cannot play for another club or for his country.

“This suspension covers all matches including domestic, international, friendly and official fixtures,” FIFA said. Mutu has held talks with Juventus this week.

Mutu’s suspension started on October 25 and expires on May 18, 2005.
