Werder Bremen have confirmed that defender Naldo has signed a new long-term deal at the Weserstadion.

The news comes in the wake of fellow defender Torsten Frings’ decision to stay at the club on Wednesday.

Naldo, who joined Bremen from Juventude two years ago, has signed a new three-year contract keeping him at the club until 2012.

“It is extremely positive when players show their faith in our club and see their futures here,” delighted Werder sport director Klaus Allofs told the club’s official website.

“Naldo has developed into one of the Bundesliga’s top players within a very short period of time.

“He has exceeded our expectations and that was the main reason why we did our utmost to keep him here for a long time.”
