David Navarro’s seven month ban has been extended to all competitions after Fifa agreed to Uefa’s request to sanction the Valencia defender.

Navarro incurred the punishment for breaking Internazionale defender Nicolas Burdisso’s nose at the end of a UEFA Champions League meeting between the two sides.

Navarro will now be unable to play in any forms of the game until October, including domestic and international matches, although Valencia have decided to appeal against the decision.

Valencia also saw fellow defender Carlos Marchena banned for four games following the brawl which resulted in both clubs being fined £106,000 for improper conduct.

Inter’s Burdisso and his colleague Maicon were both banned for six games, while Ivan Cordoba received a three-game suspension and Julio Cruz two.
