Juventus midfielder Pavel Nedved says he will retire from international football after the Czech Republic’s friendly against Serbia.

“Tomorrow’s game will be my last,” the 33-year-old told a press conference here on Tuesday.

“It’s not been an easy decision to make.

“I’m not suffering from any health problems but there are quite a few other factors involved and I want to give a chance to some younger players.”

Nedved, European Footballer of the Year in 2003, has scored 18 goals in 90 appearances for the Czech Republic.

He retired from the international scene after Euro 2004 only to return to help the Czech Republic qualify for the World Cup.
