Milan will be without defender Alessandro Nesta for three weeks after he dislocated his left shoulder.

The former Italy international suffered the injury during Milan’s 2-0 home win over Cesena on Saturday.

Tests showed there was no fracture or ligament damage but the 34-year-old has been advised to rest by doctors.

“I believe Nesta will be out for two to three weeks and will miss six to seven games,” said the club’s vice-president Adriano Galliani.

Milan have a hectic schedule coming up so Nesta will miss this week’s Coppa Italia quarter-final clash at Sampdoria, along with league games against Catania, Lazio, Genoa and Parma.

However, the former Lazio man is expected to be fit in time for the first leg of Milan’s UEFA Champions League tie against Tottenham Hotspur on 15th February.
