Spurs For The Drop? It seems unthinkable but after another defeat and still languishing in the relegation zone can Tottenham be relegated? BestBrice 40/1.

The projected cost of building Liverpool’s new stadium has soared to “at least £400m”.

The news of the £150m increase comes from the club’s co-owner Tom Hicks, who together with fellow American George Gillett bought the club in March.

The new stadium will have a capacity of 60,000 – 15,000 more than their current home at Anfield – when it opens, but that could increase to 75,000 in the future.

Mr Hicks said he was not worried about the revised figures: “I’m so excited about the new stadium because we’ll be able to go do things for the fans we’ve never been able to do for them.

“Our fans are wonderful and over time we’ll be able to give them the amenities, comfort and ease of getting tickets they have never had before.”
