Newcastle United have submitted an offer to Inter for Emre Belozoglu.

“We have been talking to the player with Inter’s permission and we have now tabled an offer,” Newcastle chairman Freddy Shepherd told the club’s official website.

“We are now waiting for Inter to come back to us with their response.”

Inter are believed to want around £4 million for the 24-year-old midfielder.

The Turkish international has been one of Newcastle’s top transfer targets diring the close-season and he has been discussing personal terms with Newcastle for several weeks.

Emre told NTV in Turkey earlier this week: “I am most likely to play in England.

“My name comes up in the news with Fenerbahce but I think returning to Turkey is taking a step back.

“My priority is to play in Europe. It is not about money, if it was I would stay with Inter.”
