Night matches will return in Italy before the end of the month after they were originally banned following the riot in Catania.

Following the death of policeman Filippo Raciti during riots between fans of Sicilian rivals Catania and Palermo, all night games were immediately cancelled.

However, the Observatory of the Italian Ministry of Interior Affairs have decided to reviewtheir decision not to play matches under floodlights.

The weekend of February 24 and 25 will see three Serie A games played at night, starting with Chievo’s home fixture against Torino, which will kick off at 6.30pm local time. Atlanta will host Palermo later that Saturday, the game kicking off at 8.30pm local time at the Stadio Azzurri D’Italia.

On Sunday, the night match will be Milan’s game against Sampdoria at the San Siro.
