The nominees for this year’s Affrican Footballer of the Year award, have been announced.
Chelsea duo Didier Drogba and Michael Essien have been nominated, along with Barcelona forward Samuel Eto’o, Portsmouth’s Nwankwo Kanu, who has twice won the award, and Mohamed Aboutrika, whose last-gasp goal ensured Egyptian club Al Ahly retained their African Champions League trophy this year.
The winner will be announced at an awards ceremony in Abuja, Nigeria, on January 18.
