Real Betis winger David Odonkor is expected to be out for about three months, after suffering carilage damage on his knee.
“The cartilage has come away from the kneecap” in the player’s right knee, Betis doctor Tomas Calero confirmed.
“The German Football Federation will cover the cost of the surgery.”
The 22-year-old German international suffered a blow to his kneecap in last week’s 1-1 draw with Cyprus in a Euro 2008 qualifier.
