Protasov

Greek champions Olympiakos have sacked Ukrainian coach Oleg Protasov following Sunday’s defeat to AEK Athens.

Protasov’s assistant Sinisa Gogic will take over as coach, the club said in a statement on its website.

“I am bitter, because I am leaving when the going gets tough,” Protasov told reporters.

“Maybe that is the easiest for me, to see the remainder of Olympiakos’s efforts on TV…my associates and my players will fight.”

Protasov became the club’s 17th coach in 10 years when he took over 13 months ago and guided the team to their seventh consecutive league title.
