Crystal Palace have turned down an offer from Tottenham for winger Wayne Routledge.

Spurs offered £1.5m for the England under-21 international last week, but increased the offer after Saturday’s 3-0 defeat to Palace.

Eagles chairman Simon Jordan told the Daily Mail: “We have turned down an increased bid from Tottenham.

“They need to come back with more. The offer made on Saturday is not acceptable and the ball is still in their court.”

“Spurs approached me after the game and we talked, but they have not offered us anywhere near enough money for a player we want to keep at the club.”

Routledge’s contract expires in the summer, but the England under-21 international rejected a new five-year deal with Palace earlier this month reported to be worth £12,000 a week.
