Middlesbrough begin life in the Championship at home to title hopefuls Sheffield United – and Simon Hopper thinks the Riverside could see yet another low scoring game on Friday.

Milan president Silvio Berlusconi has confirmed that the club will not be selling midfielder Andrea Pirlo.

After meeting with vice-president Adriano Galliani and coach Leonardo, Berlusconi revealed that the club would not sell the Italian World Cup winner to Chelsea.

“Andrea Pirlo is off the market. He will stay with us and finish his career in Milan,” he told Corriere dello Sport.

“You know that Pirlo was the subject of a bid from Chelsea. We also spoke with the player and have decided to hold on to him at the request of Leonardo.”

Berlusconi also assured the fans that the they are still in the market for another striker, with Real Madrid’s Klaas-Jan Huntelaar reported to be a target.

“The club has made the necessary funds available to so that Galliani can now buy a goalscorer, to add to the strikers we already have in the team,” he added.
