UEFA president Michel Platini says video technology is not required to help referees because a system employing five officials should be enough to decide any controversial incidents
High-profile mistakes during this year’s World Cup led to a worldwide call fo the introduction of video technology. But Platini says the five-official system – inaugurated during last season’s Europa League and to also be used during this season’s Champions League – will prove to be “the only solution.”
Platini says “let’s wait and see how the (five officials) works before seeing whether goal-line technology is important.”
