Bayern Munich are willing to make Lukas Podolski available on loan, in a change of heart that could interest Manchester City.

The German international has fallen behind the likes of Miroslav Klose and Luca Toni in the Bayern striking hierarchy, and is thought to be concerned about his prospects of being called-up to Germany’s Euro 2008 squad.

The player is reportedly a target for Manchester City where Sven Goran Eriksson has made no secret of his desire to sign a striker during the transfer window.

Bayern general manager Uli Hoeness now concedes that loaning Podolski out for the rest of the season, may be benieficial to both parties.

He added: “I want to help him to make it to the European Championships.

“And if we loan him out and everything goes well, we have done everything right.

“Then we have got him games and he comes back on July 1.”
