PSV Eindhoven have turned down an approach from Valencia for Mexican defender Carlos Salcido.

Valencia coach Ronald Koeman is keen to bring the Mexican international to La Mestalla after working with the player during his time in charge of PSV.

However, PSV are determined to keep hold of the 27-year-old and club director Jan Reker said the Dutch champions were unhappy at Valencia’s move for Salcido.

“This is absolutely indecent. We are not even very angry about it, but we are very disappointed,” Reker told AD Sportwereld.

“Valencia called us on Monday with their request and I immediately told them that Salcido is not for sale.

“Every offer that Valencia make will go directly into the litter bin.”
