Roma coach Claudio Ranieri is set to sign a new long-term deal with the Serie a club.

The 58-year-old joined Roma in September 2009 succeeding Luciano Spalletti as head coach and is currently under contract at the Stadio Olympico for another two years.

The former Chelsea manager led the the club to second position in Serie A last season, and although he is in no hurry to sign a new deal, he is keen to eventually do so.

“I will renew my contract but I am not in a hurry,” he said.

“There’s no urgency. Soon everything will be done.”

Ranieri – a self-confessed Roma fan, is satisfied with his time at the club so far.

“Rome is my city,” said Ranieri.

“There is a project at Roma and I am proud that (club president Rosella) Sensi included me in it.

“I want to continue this adventure with Roma.”
