Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon has denied reports claiming that Robinho could be sold in the summer.

The Brazilian’s agent Wagner Ribeiro claimed last month Real would be willing to sell if any club was prepared to match their valuation of €18million.

However, Calderon maintains there are no plans to cash in on Robinho, who struggled to make an impact under Fabio Capello.

“We want Robinho to stay here for many years and we are not looking to sell,” he explained.

“Robinho is the future of this club because he is 23 and people have confidence in him.”

Calderon has also denied that Capello’s position was under immediate threat.

He confirmed: “The coach will stay with us for the rest of the season.

“In June we will study the situation and decide the best option for Real Madrid.

“I accept that people criticise our game but with eight new players it is not easy to play well in every match.”
