Tottenham can seal their place in the next round of the UEFA Cup with a result over Spartak Moscow this Thursday at White Hart Lane.

A Real Madrid director claims the club have a deal in place to sign Cristiano Ronaldo from Manchester United in the summer.

Pedro Trapote mentioned the agreement in a conversation that has been transcribed by El Mundo.

After chasing the Portuguese winger last summer, Madrid appeared to have ended their quest with Calderon stating that the club would not try to buy the player again because they did not want to sour relations with United.

El Mundo report that after Madrid’s game against Barcelona, Trapote leaked the news in a conversation that was recorded.

“If you are asking me what we are going to do now then I would tell you that we have already signed the best player for the summer,” Trapote is quoted as saying.

“Are you talking about Cristiano?” was the reply.

“The best of the best. It is Cristiano, there is no other. It is better that we do not say anything at the moment though.

“Why can you not say anything. It is the best time because things are going badly and people need something to excite them in the middle of all this.

Trapote replied: “No, it is best to not say anything because there are some clauses that prevent us from announcing it now.”
