Man City will be hoping to follow-up their 3-0 win over Stoke in the Premier League back in October when the pair meet again this Saturday lunchtime.

Real Madrid have resumed talks with Wigan to sign the club’s Ecuadorian winger Antonio Valencia, according to reports in Spain.

According to AS negotiations are taking place this week and a deal, either permanent transfer or loan, is expected before the transfer window closes.

Wigan had reportedly fixed a €17.5 million price tag on the former Villarreal player when Real first contacted them in late December.

In contrast to Real’s other new signings, Lassana Diarra and Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, only one of whom is eligible for European competition after both represented their previous clubs in this season’s UEFA Cup, Valencia is eligible to play Champions League football.

French midfielder Diarra has already played for Portsmouth while Dutch striker Huntelaar has appeared for Ajax this season in the UEFA Cup.
