Real Madrid are reported to be interested in signing Manchester United striker Ruud van Nistelrooy.

The former PSV frontman continued his rich vein of form by scoring twice for United in their 4-0 win over Aston Villa on Saturday. According to sources in Spain, his form has not gone unnoticed and Real Madrid are lining up a bid.

Moreover, when quizzed about the club’s next big-money signing, Van Nistelrooy’s former Old Trafford teammate David Beckham, recommended Real sign the 27-year-old Dutch striker.

However, aware of the speculation, Van Nistelrooy has reaffirmed his commitment to Manchester United.

“I’m very happy here,” he stated.

“The fans are always great to me.”
