Portsmouth manager Harry Redknapp has reacted angrily to reports that Panathinaikos director of football Velimir Zajec could be joining the club.

A Panathinaikos official was quoted in the Greek media as saying Zajec was leaving, and Portsmouth chairman Milan Mandaric is set to issue a statement later to clarify the situation.

The report angered Redknapp.

“I know nothing about it,” he told Sky Sports News.

“Of course I would be concerned. But it’s his (the chairman’s) club and he can do what he wants.”

Redknapp previously worked as director of football at Portsmouth above manager Graham Rix but took control when Rix was sacked in 2002.

“It didn’t work. I can’t really think where it has worked (in England),” he added.
