Bayern Munich’s new signing Franck Ribery admits he is looking forward to forging a midfield partnership with Bastian Schweinsteiger.

Having joined Bayern from Marseille for a reported €26m this summer, Ribery is relishing playing alongside Schweinsteiger.

“We’re both young players with a feel for the ball, and we actively go looking for possession,” said the Frenchman.

“We don’t waste time thinking about it, we just try and play instinctive football and enjoy ourselves.

“I have to get to know my team-mates better, and they have to learn about me. We need to develop an instinctive understanding.”

Ribery is also looking forward to getting a close look at last season’s champions Stuttgart in Wednesday’s League Cup semi-final encounter.

“We want to reach the final and I’m curious to see how Stuttgart play,” he said.

“They won the title, and they’ll be there or thereabouts next season. It’ll be a good test of where we stand.”
