Chelsea’s Dutch winger Arjen Robben could miss the Carling Cup final after limping off injured in the 1-0 win at Blackburn.

Robben, who scored the winner, was taken to hospital after last night’s game, but he will have to wait until the swelling subsides before he can undergo a scan.

Chelsea manager Mourinho said: “It’s a big injury and he might miss the Carling Cup final. But we do have other players.

“You could see what happened to him after he scored. He’s special, maybe that’s why they had to target him.”

Chelsea extended their lead at the top of the Premiership to 11 points and Mourinho is confident that the margin is sufficient to ensure the title ends up at Stamford Bridge

“That’s the biggest lead we’ve had so far. I can’t see us throwing it away with our attitude,” he added.

“We have showed that we are not worried about coming to the north and battling. The players spirit is magnificent and the fans are fantastic.”

Mourinho also paid tribute to goalkeeper Petr Cech, who as well as saving a penalty last night, who managed to break the Premiership record for longest time without conceding a goal, now standing at 781 minutes.

“Cech is fantastic, but it’s not just about him or about John Terry, it’s the way the whole team defends, we defend with everything we have.

“But Cech is magnificent and Carlo Cudicini is also guilty of that – Petr knows that if he sleeps Carlo is waiting for his chance.”
