Bayern Munich’s Arjen Robben is ‘doing well’ in his recovery from injury and looks on course to face Manchester United in the return leg of their Champions League quarter-final.

The winger missed Tuesday’s first-leg victory over United with a calf problem, but he is hoping to return to Louis van Gaal’s side for Saturday’s match against Bundesliga leaders Schalke.

“Arjen is doing well, he has no problems for Saturday,” Van Gaal said in Kicker.

“We travel to Schalke with no injuries.”

Bayern sit two points behind Schalke going into Saturday’s match, but club president Karl-Heinz Rummenigge believes the victory over United can inspire the team to bigger things.

“We will have a tailwind behind us going to Schalke on Saturday,” he said.

“We want to go there and emerge as league leaders. This is a very big game, but we know our team has quality and is able to win these games.”
