Real Madrid defender Roberto Carlos has appealed against his two-match Champions League ban, UEFA has confirmed.

The Brazilian was handed the suspension on Monday by UEFA’s Control and Disciplinary Committee for “improper conduct” after retaliating to a foul by Bayern Munich defender Martin Demichelis in last week’s 1-1 draw in Germany.

His appeal will be heard in on Monday.

If unsuccessful Carlos will miss the second leg against Bayern in Madrid on March 10 and the first leg of a potential quarter-final clash, should Real overcome the German champions.
