Luigi Delneri described Roma’s display in the 3-0 home defeat to Udinese as the worst since he took charge at Stadio Olimpico.

Roma finished the match with ten men after Luigi Sartor was sent off and Delneri apologised for the performance of his players.

“It was the worst performance since I arrived here, it’s true,” conceded Delneri.

“But I must give merit to Udinese. We have had a few chances, then the numerical inferiority in the match made it really difficult for us. Udinese deserved the win.

“I’m sorry for the team and for the supporters.”

Meanwhile, Udinese coach Luciano Spalletti praised the recent form of his team.

Spalletti said: “My team has played a really great match and my guys must be applauded for this.

“After the problems at the beginning of the season, we have continued working with serenity and my players have finally found their faith and awareness in their possibilities.”
