Veteran Brazilian striker Romario has quit as player-coach of Vasco da Gama after an argument with club president Eurico Miranda.
“It’s all over with me and Vasco,” the 1994 World Cup winner said ahead of his side’s 2-0 cup win over Friburguense.
Romario said he would now devote his attention to helping Brazil prepare to host the 2014 World Cup finals.
“I will contribute to promoting the 2014 World Cup.”
Romario had been angered by Miranda’s insistence that he play striker Alan Kardec in place of the youthful Abuda.
