Sunderland are still not safe from the drop, so will need to get something from their trip to Pompey on Monday.

Ronaldinho has dismissed reports linking him with a move to Manchester City insisting he plans to stay at Milan.

Recent reports have claimed Ronaldinho could leave Milan this summer after just one season at the San Siro.

Ronaldinho’s brother and agent suggested the playmaker could move on, fuelling rumours of a possible switch to long-term suitors City.

However, Ronaldinho, who admits he is unhappy with his recent inactivity, has moved to dispel the speculation by pledging to stay at Milan.

“Moving to Manchester City is not part of my intentions,” Ronaldinho told La Reppublica. “I am good at Milan even if the truth is that I wish I had played more.

“I feel good here, with the team, the directors and with the fans. I don’t have it in mind to leave this jersey.

“It’s true that I hoped to become Italian champion with Milan and I am sorry that we have not achieved this objective.

“But I promise that next year we will win the Scudetto and the Champions League.”
