Guy Roux, who retired after spending 43 years in charge of Auxerre coach before quitting two years ago, is to make a comeback coaching Lens.

Lens chairman Gervais Martel was to hold a news conference later today at which he was expected to make an official announcement.

Roux told L’Equipe: “I will coach again. Lens? You will know on Tuesday at midday, as it is not signed yet.

“I can’t say anything, that’s all. My next boss doesn’t want me to say anything until Tuesday.”

The 67-year-old Roux took Auxerre out of the second division to win the French league title in 1996 along with four French Cup triumphs in 1993, 1996, 2003 ans 2005.

Roux will replace Francis Gillot who resigned last week after a poor end to the season which saw Lens fail to qualify for next season’s Champions League.
