Barcelona and Tottenham are both keen on signing Marcelo Salas from Juventus, according to the Chilean international.

The 27-year-old Chilean striker is seen surpplus to requirements at the Stadio delle Alpi with coach Marcello Lippi preferring the Italian duo Marco di Vaio and skipper Alessandro del Piero. Moreover, last season’s leading Serie A scorer David Trezeguet is recovering frominjury and when fit, will puh Salas further down the pecking order.

‘Barcelona and Tottenham both want me and although Juventus are one of the biggest clubs in the world I am running out of patience,’ admitted Salas.

Spurs boss Glenn Hoddle, who recently strengthened his forward line with the acquisition of Robbie Keane, is still looking for an experienced striker and Salas fits the bill perfectly.

Barcelona meanwhile, who went down 2-1 to leaders Real Sociedad at the weekend, continue to struggle under coach Louis Van Gaal. Money is tight at the Nou Camp, but Van Gaal will be given funds when the transfer window re-opens in January, to revive the club’s faltering domestic campaign.
