Getafe boss Bernd Schuster has revealed that he would like to become the next manager of Bayern Munich.

Bayern parted company with Felix Magath at the end of last month, before turning to Champions League winner Ottmar Hitzfeld in the short term ahead of a new appointment.

Former Germany national team captain Lothar Matthaus has already declared his interest in the post, and fellow countryman Schuster is the latest to throw his hat in the ring.

“I reckon I can say that there is no coach who would say no to Bayern. And definitely not me either,” SID sports news agency quoted Schuster as telling German television.

“I like being in Spain very much, but Germany is always tempting and you want to come back at some point. To a top club would, of course, be even better.”

Coincidentally, Schuster has also been linked with a switch to Real Madrid. With reports emanating from Spain claiming that Fabio Capello will resign at the club, Schuster is regarded as a potential successor at the Bernabeu.
