Brazilian coach Luiz Felipe Scolari has admitted that he told his team to absorb early Chinese pressure before imposing their game to their opponents.
“We knew China would start the match with some pressure so we waited for 10 or 15 minutes then we started to play our game,” he said.
“We knew we were technically superior and took advantage of that.
Asked about the prospects for the rest of the tournament, Scoalri sounded upbeat.
“This team is improving a lot,2 he said. ‘They chased the ball well and were able to relax and playthe game they know how to play.”
Meanwhile, China coach Bora Milutinovic pronounced himself proud of his team’s effots.
“I am proud of my players,” he said.
“It is a strange feeling. Whe you lose, it is not good, but we were playing a strong Brazil team,” he said.
“For us it was very important to play well. The players need to get experience, but in the World Cup you need to try a lot, which they did.
“I am very happy for the players, they did everything they could,” he said.
“I am happy how we played. Normally I am never happy with such a result, but I am happy now,” Milutinovic said.
