Marcos Senna, who has been linked with a move to Manchester United, has insisted he is happy to stay at Villarreal.

The 30-year-old midfielder has been linked with a move to Old Trafford, but he admits he would be happpy to stay at his current club.

Senna told the Villarreal website: “I know they are negotiating my situation and I hope that it is fixed soon so I know what my future will be.

“Villarreal opened doors to me and the truth is that I am very contented.

“The squad is being reinforced very well with the arrival of Leandro Somoza, Cani and Robert Pires. We have greater depth in midfield.

“I always said that my dream is to be able to win a title with this club, and this year is a great opportunity to obtain that.”

Villarreal described reports that Senna will join United as a “rumour” – but did not rule a move.

“There is nothing confirmed,” said a Villarreal spokesman on Monday.

“It is all a rumour. Marcos Senna is training right now for Villarreal. That’s all I can say.”
