Roma came from behind to earn a 3-3 draw with Internazionale – in Luigi Del Neri’s first game in charge.

Del Neri, who took over following the shock resignation of Rudi Voller, will have been impressed by the spirit demonstrated by his players after they had fallen two goals behind to an impressive Inter side.

Youngster Daniele de Rossi scored a late equaliser for Roma, on a night which saw Francesco Totti score his 100th Serie A goal.

Vincenzo Montella opened the scoring for the home side, only for Esteban Cambiasso to level for Inter.

Alvaro Recoba looked to have given Inter the points when increased Inter’s lead.

However, Totti’s wonderfully-executed free-kick revived Roma, and they drew level 16 minutes from time when de Rossi hammered home at the far post.

Milan eased into the top three after a comfortable 3-1 win against Reggina at Giuseppe Meazza. Carlo Ancelotti’s team have begun the season in stuttering form, but in Andrei Shevchenko they have a striker on top of his game and it was the Ukrainian who opened the scoring. Kaka added a second after Franceschini had levelled for the visitors, before Shevchenko sealed the points in the closing minutes.

Juventus continue to lead the way, picking up a 1-0 win over Udinese to remain two points clear of this season’s surprise package Messina.

The newly-promoted side maintained their astonishing early-season form with a 4-1 victory over Siena . Alessandro Parisi, Nicola Amoruso and two goals from Arturo Di Napoli gave the hosts victory.

Roberto Muzzi earned a 1-1 draw for Lazio five minutes from time after Carmine Gautieri had opened the scoring for Atalanta.

Elsewhere, Palermo beat Bologna 1-0, while Parma were held to a 0-0 draw by Fiorentina.

Late goals from Fausto Rossini and Aimo Diana gave Sampdoria a valuable 2-0 win over bottom-of-the-table Livorno.
