Barcelona’s meeting with Real Madrid scheduled for this Saturday, could be postponed along with other Primera Liga matches if a planned strike by referees goes ahead.

A letter has been sent to the Spanish football federation (RFEF) by the referees, who have threatened to strike this weekend unless they receive salaries they claim are owed for February and March.

Spanish league referees are normally paid by the Spanish League (LFP) through the RFEF.

The LFP claim to have sent a cheque for €1.1m, to cover the salaries to the RFEF on March 17. However the RFEF are claiming €1.86m in back payments.

Both parties however said they were hopeful of reaching agreement before the weekend.
