Tottenham Hotspur have contacted Barcelona about the availability of striker Samuel Eto’o for next season, according to reports emanating from Spain.
The Spanish club have placed a €35m pice tag on the Cameroon forward and are looking to see whether Spurs respond favourably to their valuation, claims Marca
Barcelona are set for a complete overhaul this summer with a number of high profile players expected to leave in order to finance a rebuilding programme at Camp Nou.
Eto’o has stated recently that he would leave next summer if the club endured a third season without a trophy, but the attraction of a move to England may force his hand a year early.
The former Real Madrid forward was expected to join Spurs from Real Mallorca 12 months before moving to Camp Nou and he even dedicated a goal to the club’s fans.
Spurs’ interest in Eto’o could further cast a doubt over the long-term future of forward Dimitar Berbatov – who continues to be linked with a summer move.
