Lazio’s Dutch international defender Jaap Stam, has revealed that the club’s ongoing financial problems, will will almost result in hhim leaving the club at the end of the season.

Speaking to Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf, Jaap Stam revealed that his patience with the club is running out.

The Roman club is struggling financially, and recently suggested the Dutch defender be paid partly in club stocks rather than cash, but Stam was unhappy with their proposal.

“I went to the supermarket andasked if I could pay with stocks,” he said.

“But I was told that they only accepted either cash or credit cards.

‘This offer is unacceptable: I have a contract until 2005, but at this point I’m almost sure that I won’t stay here. I think I’ll play either in one of the three top Serie A clubs or in Holland.”
