Sunderland’s Danish keeper Thomas Sorensen is expected to be out for several months after dislocating his right elbow in yesterday’s 3-1 defeat at Arsenal.

Sorensen sustained the injury after colliding wiith Arsenal striker Thierry Henry just 12 minutes into the Premier League match.

“Thomas has dislocated his elbow,’ said Sunderland boss Peter Reid.

‘He went straight to hospital and it has been set but he will be out for something like two or three months now.”

The news is a bitter blow for Sunderland and in particular Reid, who has been tipped to become the first managerial casualty of the season after a disappointing start to the new campaign.
