Maccabi Haifa’s midfielder Idan Tal has agreed to sign a pre-contract to join Premiership side Bolton.

Bolton manager Sam Allardyce confirmed on the club’s website: “I am hopeful that a pre-contract deal will be concluded later this week.

“Idan will add extra attacking flair to a midfield that already contains quality.”

Tal, played 33 times for Everton between 2000 and 2002, but left Goodison Park to join Rayo Vallecano in Spain, before returning to Israel.

Allardyce added: “Idan reminds me of West Ham’s Yossi Benayoun, and if he makes a similar impact on the Premier League as Benayoun and our own Ben Haim then we will have some player at our disposal.”
