The Turkish Football Federation has confirmed that Fatih Terim will stay on as national coach until at least 2010.
Terim was widely reported as saying he would step down at the end of Euro but he appears to have undergone a change of heart since Turkey’s semi-final exit at the hands of Germany.
A statement read: “Terim is in his post and will be the head of our team in the 2010 World Cup.”
Despite being hit by injuries and suspensions, Turkey proved one of the surprise teams in Austria and Switzerland, only going out to a last-minute goal to Germany.
