John Terry’s chances of being fit to face France on Sunday look slim after it was confirmed he will miss England’s full training session on Friday.

The Chelsea defender is suffering from a a damaged hamstring and although her participated in a light warm-up on Friday morning the FA said he would not be involved in the full work-out scheduled for this afternoon.

Coach Sven-Goran Eriksson earlier said Terry would need to come through the full session to be considered for selection for the Group B game.

But FA spokesman Adrian Bevington said: “John is taking part in warming-up exercises with the rest of the squad but will then break off to carry on the final part of his own rehabilitation programme while the rest of the squad continue with full training.”

Ledley King or Jamie Carragher will take Terry’s place if he misses out.
