River Plate’s visit to Rosario Central on Sunday night was held up when a dog entered the field of play and defecated on the pitch.

Whether this was a reflection on the entertainment value of the match is hard to say, but there was certainly a distinct lack of interest among the players and match officials when it came to removing the animal from the pitch.

Inevitably, when one of the players tried to grab it the dog ran away and it was left to Rosario Central midfielder, Jesus Mendez, to coax the animal to safety.

While the dog performed it’s number twos, the match itself finished in a 1-1 draw.
