Luca Toni has admitted he is honoured to equal Kurt Hamrin and Gabriel Batistuta’s record of 26 goals in a season for Fiorentina.
Toni is the leading scorer in Italy this season and also leads the ESM standings as Europe’s most prolific marksman.
“It’s a big pleasure to have equalled the record,” he told Sky Italia.
“I have scored 26 goals because I am surrounded by players who help me.”
Fiorentina lie in the fourth Champions League qualifying spot, just a point ahead of Roma with six games remaining.
“Now let’s hope we can continue doing good things to achieve Champions League qualification, that would be a dream,” he stated.
“We will try to battle for this place until the end, but it will be hard due to the fact Roma are a strong side.”
