West Ham have agreed to sell Jermain Defoe to Tottenham.

It was reported earlier in the day that Defoe could be on his way to White Hart Lane with Bobby Zamora joining West Ham in part-exchange. West Ham have now confirmed that the deall has gone through with the Nationwide club receiving £7m plus the former Brighton striker.

Defoe has been linked with a move away from Upton Park since submitting a transfer request within hours of the club being relegated from the Premier Legue.

He jas just completed a five-match suspension (his third of the season) but when available is regarded as one of English football’s most promising talents.
