Tottenham boss Glenn Hoddle has nt given up hope of sign ing Real Madrid striker Fernando Morientes, despite the player stating he did not want to leave the Bernabeu.

Morientes insists that he is happy at Real and and would rather fight for his place than join a club who will not be playing European football next season.

However, Hoddle refuses to concede defeat.

“The position hasnot changed since Wednesday. Our bid is not finished,” said Hoddle.

Tottenham are ready to increase their offer for the 26-year-old to £14million in an effort to persuade the European champions to sell. However, sources close to the Spanish club, suggest that the deal is entirely dependent on Ronaldo. Were the Brazilian World Cup winner to stay in Italy with Inter, then Real will end negotiations to sell Morientes.
